Yes it is sad. There's a series of videos on YouTube of Gordon Ramsay raising animals in his back hard (turkeys... Etc) so that a) his children will know that Christmas dinner just doesn't come from a store and b) that the animals will be raised humainly and killed properly , in a way that's causing as little pain to the animal and treating the animal with respect.
