where the legacy started

This is my favorite Godsmack album to date. Every song on here is great except "Somewhere in London". Totally would recommend the rest though. Over all it's an amazing record and totally worth buying. And for the parents with young kids, they do sell the record clean so look for that if you're a parent. My favorite songs are "Moon Baby, "Stress", "Time Bomb", and "Voodoo". Plus "Voodoo" is a cliff-hanger with the sequel on Godsmack IV if you were wondering if there's a conclusion to the song, which there is.

this music speaks to me

I remember buying this album when it first came out and absolutely loving it. It sounded great and for my high school self, that was enough. But then about a year ago I had it playing in my car for over a week and I didn't just hear it, I listened, and I happened to catch a line that I hadn't really paid attention to before and it changed the album for me.
There are songs and individual lines in this album that really speak to me and a situation in my life. That one line in particular really helped me understand something in my life. It helped me look at it in a different way, which enabled me to accept the situation and understand why it was like it was. I listened to this album on my way to work today and it still speaks to me.

Having great sounding music is fairly easy, but making music that actually influences lives is something else entirely. I owe a good deal on my current peace of mind to that wonderful album.

This CD was good! After hearing "Awake" on the radio I rushed over to the store and to buy the CD. I listened to it day and night till I know almost all the words to every song. I really like "Spiral", "Trippin" and "Sick of Life", those are some of the best songs on this CD.

With every album The guys have released they have gotten better and better. This album was more straight ahead Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. It went to a stronger place than Godsmack did. It set the stage for Faceless. The best track on the album by far is and always will be Awake. Also i really like Vampires even though it didnt get any air play.

Awake

The reason I like the Awake album is because of the 'dark grunge' that it has throughout the album. But before I go any further, I love all of the Godsmack records, especially since Shannon Larkin joined the band during the Faceless album, Great Work Shannon!! Shannon, I think makes the music better for Sully, Robbie, and my man Tony Rombola. Tony Rombola's leads in Awake are crushing. Listen to the track 'Trippin' and you will realize what I am talking about. A crushing 'dark grunge' rythme and great lead playing is the way to go in Hard Rock music. Sully's lyrics fit right into a 'dark grunge' attitude. His lyrics are original and smacks you right in the face. You can tell Sully wants you to hear him out and understand what is going on. You can also tell he means exactly what he sings. Godsmack will always be my favorite band because they come up with the greatest music. Godsmack, to me is Hard Rock but almost doesn't have a genre or even belong in one due to the fact that they leak into every category that has to do with Rock; Hard Rock; Grung; Metal; Nu-Metal, etc. Godsmack has also achieved a great accomplishment of having their own sound. It could be an old song or a new song, you know it's Godsmack. It's not the same lyrics or the same riff or anything like that, it's just that Godsmack attitude you get when you hear the music. Godsmack has all the tools to be one of the greatest bands ever!!

Great Heavy Record

This is by far the heaviest album to date from the boys. It was a perfect follow up to Awake. Established Godsmack as a force in the hard rock heavy metal world!! People always tell me Godsmack isn't metal? I say listen to Releasing the demon's then talk to me. Also the album has a great ballad Serenity wich never grows old!!! I think this album is there best all around album!! IV a very close second!

godlike album

I remember fighting with my mom in the store to buy me this album when I was 11. She wouldn't let me buy it because of its explicitness, after 20 minutes of arguing I got the best cd ever produced. I fell asleep listening to it straight through that night and any other night I listened to it, which was very often. Years later i still listen to every single song, one song stands out to me the most, Serenity. This song has gotten me through some tough times, and i thank god every day for giving Godsmack the power to make this song. I love every song on every cd but the Faceless cd is the bread and butter of all.

Relaxing

This album is just so relaxing. When I get home from a bad day at school and just want to relax I listen to this CD. I love all the acoustics in it. The song "Voices" is just like magic. When I first bought this album I was excited and I love every bit of it. I really enjoy all of the guitar solos. The new version of "Keep Away" was a little hard to get used to, since I'm so used to Godsmack's harder music, but I like it. This whole album was a nice touch after Faceless.

different

I was sitting in class one day and the girl next to me was listening to Godsmack. I had all the Godsmack CDs out at the time so I asked her, "What Godsmack CD is that?", and she said The Other Side. I asked her if I could give it a listen to and I was like WOW! Some songs hit home on this CD, like "Running Blind" and "Voices" so I went out and got it after school. I enjoyed this CD it was different.

Probably the best Godsmack album

When I heard "Livin' In Sin" opening the record, I thought, this is the best track i've ever heard. It gave me goosebumps, and so much emotion goes into it. I've never heard a Metal-Ballad before, trust me, it's the best opener for a record ever. The whole album just unfolds through the magnificent "Shinedown" through "Voodoo Too", to "One Rainy Day", it shapes up to be not only Godsmack's best album musically, but a classic record, among Zeppelin IV and Metallica 'Black'. Tony really shines in this record, his Guitar is on par with his influences, and the band deliver an album from the heart.

GODSMACK IV

Wow! This is another killer release from a killer band! They have to be my all time favorite!! Every song on here takes me to a different place. Mama tore me up! My oldest boy is in jail again, and he's only 24, and I always wonder where I went wrong, and when I lost him. He's such an amazing boy, but he keeps letting the drugs get the best of him and I don't know how to reach him. Anyway, Mama couldn't have been a more fitting song for my current situation, so THANK YOU GODSMACK!!

I loved it

OK first of all I am a huge Godsmack fan but I am also a huge blues fan. The first time I heard this album I didn't really like it, but as my band went from being a metal band to a hard rock blues band I found myself coming to this album. With songs like "Mama", "Voodoo Too" and "Speak" I now know why I liked the album. The reason is because every time I hear "Speak" it gets my heart going or like when I hear "Mama" I know exactly what is meant.

If you're a Godsmack you own it to yourself on getting this album.

Good Times. Bad Times

I have been a fan of Godsmack since the early 'demo' years. Even after hearing The Oracle, this is my favorite album. The arrangement of "Good Times, Bad Times" is superb to the original song by Zepplin! There is a wide diversity between songs on this album which is great. Never get tired of listening to this one guys!

Forever a Godsmak Fan

I must have been 10 years old the first time I heard Godsmack play on the radio. The song "Voodoo" captured me like magic. Every thing about it; the voice, the heavy drum and bass riffs, the screaming guitar, just pulled me in deeper. My mother bought me the CD a few days later and I still have it to this day. Boy, did I play the hell out of that album. I have been a fan ever since and Godsmack has never let me down. I can't even say that I have an album from Godsmack that I do not like. There is just something about every one that I love, from the self titled to IV. So once I found out that there was a greatest hits album I knew I had to buy one. I have all the albums but I wanted to support my favorite band. And again I was not let down. Every song on Good Times, Bad Times is awsome and Godsmack did a kick ass job on covering Led Zeppelin, well done guys. They have captured the emotion from every ablum so brilliantly. I can't even tell you how many times I have watched that DVD. Therefore, I rate Godsmack "Good Times, Bad Times" 5 stars out of 5 stars. I can not wait untill there is a new album. I just listened to "Whiskey Hangover" and it has me so ready for more Godsmack. I will forever be a Godsmack fan. Thanks guys.

The Godsmack I've always wanted!

When I first heard 'What If?' from this record, I knew, this was the ONE! It was the type of song I'd always wanted Godsmack to write, something along the lines of Mistakes from Awake but with more clarity, power and feeling. When I picked up the record, these elements were present in every single track. There are no sleepers on this album, every track is 5 stars and whatever mood you're in, The Oracle is there to help. Godsmack get better every album!

WILL LOVE THIS FOR YEARS TO COME!!!!!!

I love The Oracle. Defiantly captures the live experience!! Huge accomplishment on your part since that's one of the hardest things to do. I have yet to find another band that can do that. I swear I bought this album twice I love it so much! Sully really added that extra something to his lyrics and singing tin this album! Thank you so much for sharing this with us! Keep on rockin!

Godsmack's album is amazing! This is a band that previously has had two number one albums and now the Oracle which also has hit number #1. The hit single "Crying Like A Bitch!" is amazing. I found myself listening to this song while driving down the road and rocking out to it. From beginning to end I thought this album delivered and Godsmack has gone back to their roots. One song I can really identify with is "Love, Hate, Sex and Pain. Due to the fact that my life lately has been like a roller coaster ride. Thank you Godsmack for making an amazing album. Keep on rocking!
