Godsmack Updates From Shannon

Shannon gives us a firsthand report on Rock The Ink, plus sets the record straight on any rumours about the bands future. Also keep reading below to find out the latest on the long-awaited fifth release from Godsmack.

Hey Smackers!

Shannon here. Just wanted to thank everyone on behalf of the band for coming to rock out with us at the Rock and Ink festival in Rhode Island last week. It was a blast! Lots of killer bands rocked on multiple stages, and tons of tattoo booths were set up in the convention center, some of the best artists out there from all over, slinging awesome ink. Of course, Sully and I both had to get new tattoos! I hope that everyone in attendance could feel the energy coming off the stage as we played, because it was a special gig for us, being the final show before heading into the studio to write and record the fifth full length album. With all the time we took off and various other projects each of us have been doing, we hope that all of you realize how important Smack is to us, and anyone thinking that the band was going through a rough spot or even thinking about breaking up can be strongly reassured that this band is in the best form we have EVER been in, both consciously and physically, and getting along like a band should, i.e. like the brothers that we are. And also know that we have a definate focus on the new material, and we know where our roots are and exactly where we came from, so expect a pure Godsmack record because it is brewing within us BIGTIME!

All that said, I hope everyone had a scary and freaky Halloween! It was strange not to play, as we have played on that day for as long as I can remember. It was nice to finally be able to take my daughter trick-or-treating though!

One final thought: don't forget to go out and VOTE. I'm not a political kind of guy, but I'd like to think I'm smart enough to tell you that whoever you vote for, that's cool, just get out there and do it because it does matter and you all can make a difference. ROCK THE VOTE!!!

I Like Obama. Just thought I'd throw that out there...

Listen to the new AC/DC, listen to the new Oasis, and definately listen to the new Metallica! And as always, don't drink and drive, but by all means, have a drink on me!

Cheers, Shannon 8-)
