9/11 10 YEARS LATER!!

Sun, Sep 11, 2011 at 9:32 AM By: Jamie

To all that was affected by the 9/11 TRAGEDY!! Thinking back to where you were when the tragedy happened. I was at the doctor's office when the 1st plane crashed into the World trade Center. People were all gathering around the television in the waiting room. I had just arrived and had no idea what was going on. I asked a lady if they were showing something that happened from the past and she said " No a plane just crashed into the Trade Center " I was just standing there with this sinking feeling, thinking I hope my mom is ok. She traveled a lot and was just in Boston. Then came the 2nd plane. as I watched it hit the other tower I couldn't believe this was happening. All those innocent people who just lost their lives and those poor families, and before I could think about anything else the 1st Tower came crashing down. The cries of those trying to get away, people leaping to their death to get out of the burning buildings I will never forget. Absolute HORROR and CHAOS!! I wanted to find a way to help these people, I donated blood. I donated clothes and on the 14th of September Godsmack played a show that was almost canceled and they donated all sales to the families of the victims of the 9/11. I fell more in love with this band because of that. I couldn't believe how INCREDIBLE they were. I had my M&G that same night and they were as sweet and nice as ever. As they say " WE WILL NEVER FORGET " My prayers go to those who were affected by this and still are trying 10 years later to put the pieces of their lives together. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!! Know that we all still think about that day and the loss of so many innocent lives.

    Well put!

I'll never forget the morning before the first plane hit. I was on my way to work on an incredibly beautiful day. The sun was shining, the temp was comfortable and I saw something I've always heard of but had never seen for myself. Butterflies. Monarch butterflies. They were migrating. There were thousands of them crossing the highway I took to work. The office I was going to at the time was out in the country south of Cedar Rapids. I couldn't believe it, there they were. It put me in such a great mood. It only happens every 4 yrs and you never know what the route will be. I thought it was going to be a great day. Turns out that it was one of the worst days ever. What happened that day was so surreal. Being in Iowa and not really knowing what was going on out east was frightening. I remember at one point it was reported that there was smoke coming out of the White House. We didn't have a TV in our department so we were gathered around the radio and kept looking for updates on the internet.
All flights were grounded across the country. I remember looking up around 4:00 pm or so to see 3 con trails way up there, going from west to east. I knew it was the president in Air Force 1 and fighter jet escorts. It was a weird feeling.
So many lives lost for no good reason, chaos, tragedy, people stranded at airports all over the country, and the sun setting on such a beautiful day. Surreal.
